Today in science....

Today in science class we incorporated technology with science like nothing. We went outside and took pictures of a tree of our choice.  We took several pictures slowly zooming in on a particular part of the tree.  After that we took a piece of the tree and leave to see it under the ProScope (which was so cool!) In our next class we will use Audacity to record our interview and put it in iMovie.  We had a lot of fun incorporating science and a funny story.   The class will soon find out about Samuel Squirlington....
We also talked about our own science experiences and how science is so important now in our society, but sadly the emphasis is not on science so much.  Lastly, we explored Curiosity, a website full of science questions and answers.

What is science??

How do we define science? According to Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, the definition of science is "knowledge attained through study or practice," or "knowledge covering general truths of the operation of general laws, esp. as obtained and tested through scientific method [and] concerned with the physical world."

SCIENCE is everywhere. It's part of our lives, from cooking, recycling, gardening, weather, and using a computer.  Science is progressing and along with technology, it is changing our world and the way we learn and teach it.  Children need to have science in the classroom not just for the subject learning, but for overall knowledge of how we have progress through time and how the future is open to many possibilities.
